Friday, June 11, 2004 has been declared a National Day of Mourning for President Reagan, since the former President's funeral will take place that day.  It also has been declared a federal holiday.  But meat and poultry processors will not have to pay overtime for inspection services, as they would on a federal holiday such as Memorial Day or the Fourth of July.  Bill Smith, FSIS Assistant Administrator for Field Operations, said that the day will be a normal one as far as inspection services are concerned, and that operators will not be charged any overtime for inspection services during their regular operating hours.  If they want inspection services outside those hours, operators will have to pay overtime for that time, just as they would on any regular day, Smith said.  If you have any questions, contact Bernie Shire, AAMP Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, at (717) 367-1168.
