AAMP Appoints New Executive Director

 

365b1bcThe American Association of Meat Processors, North America’s largest meat trade organization, has announced the selection of Chris Young as its new executive director, effective November 30, 2015.

Young succeeds Marty Manion, who has held the post since 2013 and is now the chief executive officer of the Naples Area Board of Realtors® (NABOR), based in Naples, Florida. Young has served as AAMP’s outreach specialist since 2013. In his new role, he will manage staff, budget, convention, member services, technology implementation, communications, strategic planning and overall operations for the association.

AAMP President Erica Hering said, “We are very pleased to announce this appointment. Chris will bring leadership and creativity to the association’s programs and a deep sense of commitment to the interests of our members. I have no doubt he will advance the initiatives of AAMP and cultivate new successes.”

Young brings to the position over 20 years of experience in the meat industry. He previously served as the operations manager for Wild Bill’s Foods in Leola, Pa., as well as overseeing ham production for Berks Packing Company, Reading, Pa. As AAMP’s outreach specialist, Young has represented the association before federal, state and local agencies. In addition to serving as the liaison to USDA, FDA and state meat inspection programs, he has handled legislative and regulatory issues on worker safety, quality control, and business management.

In response to his new role, Young said, “I look forward to continuing to serve the membership in this new capacity. I’m excited for this opportunity and I look to continue working closely with the leadership team and staff to move AAMP forward while helping to grow the next generation of meat processors.”
