FDA to Hold Public Meeting on Food Safety and Modernization Act

FDA has announced that it will hold a public meeting to discuss changes to four rules originally proposed in 2013 to implement the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA). Four supplemental notices to original rules were issued by FDA and the two that would be of specific interest to you are Preventive Controls of Human Food and Preventive Controls for Animal Food. I have provided links below to these two notices and they give an overview as to what the rule change would mean. The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building, 5100 Paint Branch Parkway in College Park, Maryland. The goal of the meeting is to attain both public and stakeholder comments on the supplemental proposed rule and inform the public of the rule making process.
