UPDATED!   FDA Seeking Public Comment on New Feed Rules; Plans Would Hurt Small-Plant Waste Disposal

The Food and Drug Administration has published proposed changes to the ruminant material feeding rules, as further steps to prevent BSE in the American cattle herd.  The Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking would make it more difficult for slaughterers and processors to get rid of waste from their cattle. Restrictions would be tightened on materials to be used in dietary supplements and cosmetics, and there would be increased recordkeeping. - Posted 7/12/04 by BFS
