tenets of new five-year legislation on Friday, as the
White House agreed to extend existing farm legislation
a third time, giving legislators through May 2 to hammer

Introduce Food Safety Recall Bill
Congresswoman
Rosa L. DeLauro (D-Conn.) and 10 co-sponsors last week
introduced the Food Safety Recall Information Act (H.R.
5762), which would require USDA to list all of the retail
stores and school districts that have received food products
subjected to a recall. -

IDs New Benefits Of Animal ID System
The agency
rolled out a draft business plan that shows how the NAIS
will be integrated with AMSA's other marketing programs,
such as the USDA Process Verified, the Quality Systems
Assessment and the Non-Hormone Treated Cattle Programs.

May Broaden Scope Of Meats Deemed Adulterated By E. coli
USDA's
Food Safety and Inspection Service is considering ruling
raw beef products contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 as
adulterated even if they are destined for further processing
that could kill the pathogen. -
