The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has accepted
a flurry of legal briefs, most supporting or augmenting
USDA's position in its appeal of an injunction that continues
to keep the U.S. border closed to live Canadian cattle.
The National Meat Association, which filed the first friend-of-the-court
brief, says the court has accepted its documents, along
with those of the American Meat Institute; National Cattlemen's
Beef Association; North American Meat Processors; Canadian
Cattlemen's Association; the Canadian government; Alberta
Beef Producers; the American Farm Bureau; National Pork
Producers Council; Tyson Foods; and dozens of state and
local farm bureaus and cattlemen's groups.
The court will hear oral arguments concerning the appeal
on July 13 in Seattle.
