USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has posted on its Web site the second Humane Interactive Knowledge Exchange scenario this year, this one addressing "Cattle Unloading: Slips and Falls."

To read it, click here.

The scenario, laying out a hypothetical situation involving animals that slip and fall during the unloading process, is intended to help inspectors and facility personnel make best practices decisions regarding the humane handling of animals. It also is intended to help agency and company personnel make decisions regarding which reports to make, when and under which circumstances.

Before 2008, the most recent scenario available dated to 2005.
