82nd AAMP Convention – Frequently Asked Questions

LOCATION & REGISTRATION

Where does the convention take place?
The event is held in the brand-new state-of the-art Oklahoma City Convention Center (100 Mick Cornett Dr. Oklahoma, OK). The show runs July 15-17, 2021.

Where can we stay?
The Omni Oklahoma City is the host hotel for the AAMP Convention. The room block is sold out; however, rooms may be available at the standard rate. Please contact the Omni directly for questions. The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott is AAMP’s overflow hotel and is located next to the convention center. Please contact the Fairfield directly for room rates/availability.

Will we be required to wear masks?
The convention center does not require masks; however, they encourage attendees to do so. AAMP will provide masks at the convention registration desk for those who would like them. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available throughout the convention center and Omni. The Omni has not provided any recent updates on the mask mandate. AAMP will inform attendees as soon as possible on that policy.

How do I know if I’m registered?
If you registered and have not yet received your confirmation letter, please email oliver@aamp.com. Any attendee planning to register after June 30 will have to do so on-site in Oklahoma City.

What are the registration hours?
The registration desk is located on the first level of the convention center. The first day of registration is Wednesday, July 14, from 2 – 4 PM; Thursday, July 15, from 9 AM – 3 PM; Friday, July 16 from 9 AM – 12 PM; and Saturday, July 17, from 10 AM – 12 PM.

Where do I pick up my name badge and event tickets?
Badges will be at the registration desk in the convention center. This is where you will pick up all your event tickets as well. If you are participating in the American Cured Meat Championships, you must pick up your name badge before registering for the ACMC. If you pre-ordered a commemorative convention t-shirt, this is where you pick that up as well.

Is the pre-convention bus tour really sold out?
Unfortunately, yes. As much as we would like to sell as many tickets as possible, the plants hosting our tours have limited capacity (it is not a matter of bus capacity). A waiting list is available in the event of a cancellation. Please call the AAMP office to be placed on the list: 717-367-1168. If you are registered for the bus tour already and decide you don’t need all your tickets, please contact the AAMP office ASAP to allow others the opportunity to attend.

Do you have a mobile app this year?
Yes. AAMP uses ConfPlus for its convention app needs. Use it to access session information, build and sync your convention itinerary, get social, see a list of exhibitors, and much more! The app can be used on smartphones and tablets on both Android and Apple products. The app is expected to launch in the first week of July.


AMERICAN CURED MEAT CHAMPIONSHIPS (ACMC)

Where is the American Cured Meat Championships (ACMC) held?
The American Cured Meat Championships take place in the Omni Hotel, Level 2, in the Five Moons Ballroom. The ACMC has new registration hours this year – Thursday, July 15 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Please plan accordingly. The cost to participate is $20/product; only one product entry per class is allowed.

Who can participate in the ACMC?
Only U.S. Processor Members of the association may participate in the ACMC. Participants must also be registered for the full convention (no one-day registrations allowed). Please bring ingredient labels along with your products to the registration desk. All ACMC registration is done on-site (there is no pre-registration). The rules can be found online here, or you can contact the AAMP office for a hard copy.

Is a refrigerated truck available to store my products?
Yes, AAMP will have a truck available beginning Tuesday at 8 PM. The hours are Tuesday (8-9 PM), Wednesday, (4-6 PM), and Thursday, (9:30 AM – 11:30 AM). Please remove your coolers as soon as possible Thursday morning to allow the AAMP staff to expedite the ACMC registration process. The truck will be parked next to the convention center.

MISCELLANIOUS

What is the dress attire?
Most attendees dress comfortably in relaxed attire (jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, etc.). The Saturday evening banquet is casual or business casual.

Where can we find food?
Food trucks will be set up in Scissortail Park, which is directly across from the Convention Center. The Omni has two restaurants always open. During the trade show, a snack bar will be available in the exhibit hall. Many restaurants are available in Bricktown, which is a 10-15-minute walk from the convention center. An electric streetcar runs from the Omni Hotel to Bricktown and is available for a small fee. The ticket station is across the street from the Omni Hotel.
