Hermann Wurst Haus, Fulton Wurst Haus Win at Missouri Convention

Best of Show awarded to Fulton Wurst Haus, and Best of Missouri awarded to Hermann Wurst Haus at the Missouri Association Meat Processors Competition.
The Hermann Wurst Haus and Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery won a combined total of 19 prestigious awards for their artisan, handcrafted smoked sausages and smoked meats at the Missouri Association of Meat Processors 84th annual convention and trade show held at Holiday Inn Executive Center, Columbia, Mo, March 3-5, 2023, at this statewide Meat Product Competition.

Hermann Wurst Haus received the coveted Taste of Missouri Award, at the annual MAMP Competition. Professional sausage makers from all over the state blind taste-test sausage products and vote for their favorite entry. Hermann Wurst Haus won with their Sweet Bologna with Jalapenos and Cheddar Cheese. The award is sponsored by Missouri Grown USA.

Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery won the Best of Show and Best Pork Product awards with their Old World Italian Finocchiona Salami. It received a perfect score. The Best of Pork Product award was sponsored by the Missouri Pork Producers.

The Hermann Wurst Haus received 8 product awards including the Taste of Missouri Award for Sweet Bologna with Jalapenos & Cheddar Cheese; Grand Champion for Steak Flavored Bacon, Reserve Grand Champion for Ring Bologna and Old World Italian Soppressata Salami; Champion for Hickory Smoked Bacon, Sweet German Bologna and Pineapple Teriyaki Snack Sticks; Reserve Champion for Whole Muscle Jerky.

The Fulton Wurst Haus received 11 product awards including the Best of Show and Best of Pork awards for Old World Italian Finnochiona Salami; Grand Champion for Old World Italian Finocchiona Salami and Ring Bologna; Reserve Grand Champion for German Bologna and Peppered Sweet Bologna; Champion for Dry Cured Bacon and Summer Sausage; Reserve Champion for Hickory Smoked Bacon, Peppered Venison Summer Sausage and Grill Flavored Bacon.

Our Sweet Bologna with Jalapenos & Cheddar Cheese recipe is a customer favorite and has won multiple International and National awards over the years." said owner Wurstmeister Mike Sloan.

Hermann Wurst Haus and the Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery offers these products in their retail stores and also produces venison products for individuals who are game hunters.

The competition - the only Missouri state contest of its kind, selected the finest examples of cured and smoked specialty items from over 200 products entered in 22 different classes including hams, bacon, sausages, ring bologna, jerky snack sticks, smoked turkey and luncheon meats. In addition to the Meat Products Competition one of the highlights of this convention was the 85-booth Trade Show featuring the latest meat processing equipment, supplies and services.

The Missouri Association of Meat Processors was founded in 1939. Currently, it represents more than 130 small and medium size meat processing operations. MAMP's objectives are to assist the small meat plants to produce safe products, to help them create “niche” markets that enables them to provide services that meets the needs of the consumer.
