Hermann Wurst Haus and Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery Win 21 Awards at the 42nd Annual Hermann Wurstfest Competition

The Hermann Wurst Haus and Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery won a combined total of 21 awards for their smoked sausages and smoked meats at the annual Hermann Wurstfest Competition.
The Hermann Wurst Haus and Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery won a combined total of 21 prestigious awards for their artisan, hand-crafted smoked sausages and smoked meats at the annual Hermann Wurstfest Competition, Saturday, March 25, 2023.

The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 42nd annual Wurstfest competition, a statewide contest among gourmet sausage makers.

Hermann Wurst Haus received ten awards including one Grand Champion award for Original Wurst Haus Bratwurst (Fresh Bratwurst); Reserve Grand Champion awards for Caramelized Pear & Gorgonzola Bratwurst (Specialty Sausage), Krakow (Specialty Wurst), Original Beef Jerky (Smoked Jerky, Restructured); and Champion awards for Old Fashioned German European-style Summer Sausage (Traditional Sommer Sausage), Best of Show Bratwurst (Smoked Bratwurst), Pineapple Teriyaki Snack Sticks (Snack Sticks), Pork Jerky (Smoked Jerky, Whole Muscle), and Original Pork Sausage (Fresh Pork Sausage).

Fulton Wurst Haus & Butchery received eleven awards including Grand Champion for Original Fresh Pork Sausage (Fresh Pork Sausage), Original Snack Sticks (Snack Sticks), Smoked Breakfast Sausage (Smoked Pork Sausage); Reserve Grand Champion for Original Summer Sausage (Sommer Sausage), Original Bratwurst (Fresh Bratwurst), Best of Show Bratwurst (Smoked Bratwurst); and Champion awards for Liver Sausage (Olde World Style), Peppered Sweet Bologna (Specialty Wurst), Peppered Venison Summer Sausage (Exotic Sausage), Andouille (Fresh), and Smoked Breakfast Sausage (Smoked Pork Sausage).

This prestigious event attracts amateur and professional sausage makers from throughout Missouri. Judges evaluated 88 entries in 16 professional categories. This year's winners were determined by a panel of meat industry judges from all over the state.

More than 2,500 visitors attended this year's event held at Stone Hill Winery and the Hermannhof Festhalle in Hermann. Visitors sampled the various gourmet sausages from sausage vendors. German music, and a performance by the Wurstjaeger dancers were enjoyed by all.
