Last week AAMP submitted comments on the two new guidelines for reaching Lethality and Stabilization as well as the revised Appendix A & B.
[Click here to view AAMP’s comments.]
Both of these documents are of great concern to us and they should be for you as processors. If you currently use Appendix A for supporting documentation for reaching Lethality, and Appendix B for Stabilization/Cooling, the changes that have been made to these two documents could have far reaching complications for you in how your product is produced.
On August 18, FSIS put out a notice that they have extended the comment period for one month until September 17.
I encourage each of you to look at the documents and the comments that AAMP has made, and take the time to submit your own comments. This is when we need to make sure that we take the time to address our concerns with regulations that could have long-lasting negative effects on our business. Please take time to encourage other processors to submit comments as well.
Comments may be submitted by one of the following methods:
- Federal eRulemaking Portal: This website provides the ability to type short comments directly into the comment field on this webpage or attach a file for lengthier comments. Go to www.regulations.gov. Follow the on-line instructions at that site for submitting comments.
