Position Information

re you looking to get lost in the middle of Montana? We are a newly opened USDA inspected plant operating outside of the small town of Moore MT, which is approximately 20 miles west of Lewistown, which has a population of 6,000. We are looking for an experienced butcher to work with us processing locally raised livestock. We need a self-motivated, hard-worker that will also be a team player with other employees.
We are looking for somone that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. We also would like someone willing to train motived employees learning the art of a butcher. You will have opportunities to move up in our company, and our wage will be based on experience and job performance.

Skills & Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of FSIS regulation including HACCP, SSOP, labeling, and quality assurance programs
• Extensive knowledge of humane animal handling, stunning, and harvest procedures
• Extensive knowledge of various meat products
• Understand where hazards in a food production process can be controlled, reduced, or eliminated
• Work with a variety of knives, hand tools, power equipment, and computer operated machinery
• Physical strength for lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds
• Possess a high standard for personal hygiene and motivate others to do the same

Experience

• 3-5 years meat processing experience (inspected facility a plus)
• High School equivalent

Salary

• $16 +/hour based on experience and job performance

Operational

• Examines cuts of meat to determine quality standard
• Ensure a high level of sanitation as required by the USDA
• Regular testing of product to ensure food safety
• Keep all machinery and tools in a clean working order
• Instruct new employees in cutting carcasses and preparing special cuts

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

• Moore, MT 59464: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

• Butcher: 3 years (Preferred)
