Master Butcher - Master Butcher Program
Job Posting Overview:
The Kentucky Association of Meat Processors (KAMP) is seeking a Master Butcher to serve the association members and organization. This position will serve as a trainer for members of our association.
 
Job Description/Responsibilities: The KAMP Master Butcher shall develop, assess needs, and
implement training programs. The Master Butcher shall conduct trainings for facilities, as needed, across
Kentucky. Most trainings will occur onsite of the facility receiving the training. The trainees will often be training new hires with some continuing education classes as well. The Master Butcher will serve as a trainer for many areas of need in meat processing facilities.
Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Attend meetings and events as required by the association.
  • Knowledge of various departments within a meat processing facility. This includes but not limited to:
    • Onboarding basics, including knife skills, hygiene and sanitation, introduction to equipment, and safety
    • Value-add products
    • Food safety
    • Kill floor and humane handling
    • Cutting room and packaging
    •  Marketing and retail
  • Maintain records of training of individuals and facilities.
  • Ability to assess the training needs of personnel in a meat/poultry processing facility.
  • Knowledge to develop training material for meat processors at various levels of skill.
  • Ability to create a certification process for trainees.
  • Coordinate with other training programs, universities/colleges, educators, and trainers/instructors to develop and implement training programs to serve meat processors
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position will report to the KAMP Executive Director and Board of Directors.
 
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of meat industry and agricultural-based knowledge.
  • HACCP certified
  • Experience working in a meat processing facility in various roles.
  • Have a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
  • Ideal candidates will be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to complete all the position responsibilities.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift over 50lbs.
  • Must have strong communication skills and comfortable speaking in groups.
 
Regular travel, including overnight stays, within the state of Kentucky is required.
Compensation: Compensation will be competitive to like positions and dependent on the successful candidate’s experience.
